Biography of Beth Marquardt

Beth Marquardt - Director of School of Early Learning

I was born and raised in Saginaw, Michigan, where I attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School and Michigan Lutheran Seminary. I then studied for the teaching ministry at Dr. Martin Luther College where I received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree in 1980. I have also done work on my Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education at Concordia University-Wisconsin.

While at DMLC I met my husband, Dale, and we were married right after graduation in 1980. Dale was assigned to Apostles Lutheran School in Billings, Montana, grades 1-8. We spent 7 years there, during two of which I taught Kindergarten at Apostles, and the rest of which I spent at home with our children.

We have been blessed with four wonderful children: Anne, now 22 and teaching preschool at Christ the Lord Lutheran School in Houston, Texas, Andrew, 20 and working as a shift manager at Pizza Hut in West Bend, Philip, 19 and working in a factory outside of Campbellsport, and Emilie, 18, who is a Senior at Luther Prep.

After our years in Montana we returned to Dale’s home state of Wisconsin where we have lived since. After our children were born, I stayed home with them for a while but then returned to teaching. I taught grades 5 & 6 for two years at St. Lucas Lutheran School in Kewaskum, preschool for 3 years at St. Paul’s Little Learners in Slinger, two long term subbing positions: one for half a year in grade 3 at Peace Lutheran School in Hartford and another for half a year in grade 4 back at St. Lucas in Kewaskum. St. Lucas then called me to be their preschool and Kindergarten teacher, along with Junior Choir director and organist, a position I held for 9 years.

The Lord then called me here to St. Paul’s to be the Director and Teacher of the School of Early Learning, a position in which I feel very honored and blessed to be. It is truly a privilege and blessing to be a part of the family here at St. Paul’s, and working in the School of Early Learning, reaching out to help families care for their children and lead and guide them with the love of Jesus has been truly awesome!

My husband and I enjoy traveling in our spare time, and I also enjoy reading, sewing, and scrapbooking our family memories. I look forward to whatever paths the Lord would guide me on in the future, hopefully including being a Grandma!!
