Gerald
Leroy Meyer was born on January 14, 1936, at New Ulm, Minnesota.
He was born to. the late Arnold & Viola Meyer who lived on a
farm just 7 miles southwest of Gibbon and 14 miles Northwest of
New Ulm. He has four brothers.
He attended a one room country school, part of the Minnesota Public
Schools, through the seventh grade. After his confirmation in the
Spring of 1949, he enrolled in the high school department of Dr.
Martin Luther College, at New Ulm, Minnesota. He graduated from
the high school department of D.M.L.C. in 1954.
In June of 1954 he was united in marriage with Beverly Radtke,
of Wausau, Wisconsin.
Pastor Meyer then attended Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota,
from 1954?56, and then entered Concordia Theological Seminary, Springfield,
Illinois. His Seminary graduation took place on May 31, 1960.
Upon his graduation, he was assigned to St. Paul's Lutheran Church
of Park City, Montana, and St. Paul's Lutheran of Columbus, Montana.
He was ordained into the Public Ministry of the Lutheran Church
Missouri Synod on July 10, 1960
In the Fall of 1965, he left the Missouri Synod for doctrinal reasons
and entered the public ministry of the Wisconsin Ev. Lutheran Synod
by rite of a Colloquy.
Of the three Calls he received upon being accepted into the WELS,
he accepted the Call to be Pastor of Redeemer Lutheran Church at
Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, where he was installed on December 12, 1965.
He continued to serve Redeemer Congregation until he received the
Call to be Pastor of St. John's Lutheran of Oak Creek. He was installed
there on June 22, 1975. Upon receiving the Call to be parttime Pastor
at St. Paul's congregation in Muskego, he entered into semi?retirement
on February 1, 1999.
His wife, Bev has taught kindergarten in our Synod's Day Schools
for 32 years. Her last Teaching Call was at Trinity Lutheran School
in Caledonia. She retired from teaching in June 1999.
Pastor and his wife, Bev. have six children. They are: Linda and
husband John Evans of Grand Rapids; Connie Meyer of Milwaukee; Tim
Meyer of Fond du Lac; Mark Meyer and wife Heidi of Belle Plaine,
Minnesota; Kerri and husband Randy Bush of Racine and Melanie and
husband Robert Proeber of Racine. Pastor and Bev have 16 grandchildren.
